On March 21, 2015, Sigma Omega Chapter held its annual Mardi Gras Scholarship Fundraiser. Sigma Omega hosted over 400 guests at the Zhou B Art Center. The beautiful Life Coach and Media Personality Monique Spence joined the brothers in hosting guests and brought her lively spirit to the event. Guests were treated to outstanding Louisiana style cuisine including a delectable gumbo. The cash bar was anchored by the purple hurricane drink special. Several great door prizes were given away including gift cards to some of Chicago’s finest restaurants.
Of course, along with all the food and libations, guest were able to get in where they fit in as Brother George Cooper’s group GIII provided the live music to accompany the casino. V103’s DJ Eric “E.T.” Taylor kept the steppers and old schoolers on the dance floor upstairs while Brother Sean “Legend” Long kept folks grooving on the lower level. By all accounts fun was had by all and folks didn’t want to leave.
The event was successful and raised nearly $10,000.00 to go towards scholarships. Over the past ten years, through the generous support of individuals, organizations and companies, Sigma Omega chapter through its Mardi Gras event has supported over 50 local young people with scholarships to attend colleges and universities.
The men of Sigma Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated thank you for your support over the years and look forward to seeing you again in 2016.
